Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Warriors Party

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of heroes who will split off from the main group to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.

This warrior group consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the party knows exactly where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.

Casimir then paid off his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, above the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
  • Kattigan knows Timmony and warns that it is a hostile location.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could enable the team enter places they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the family.

This means them few options but to head to the northern region in search of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Planners tables.

Viewers can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
