The highly-awaited second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video this week, and audience theories has been intense.
Season 1 introduces a large cast of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other with musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that fuel fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the binding agreement affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with audience demands as the main goal," the creator commented earlier this year. "But I believe that me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.
That could imply fans have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast the new season progresses, and how many of what they're anticipating happens this season.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some really amazing disclosures, some fascinating backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — especially in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a couple people make a bingo card about the new season," she mentions. "Obviously I can't post it, but I've actually done some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
