PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now secured the prestigious cup on fourteen different times.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown between the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the scoring early on.

However, the southern French side fired two times late to seize a surprise advantage. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital equaliser in the dying moments to force the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all converted with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 penalty win.

The record winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last thirteen years.
